REGULATION FOR TANZOLYMP ASIA
Solo

It is possible for a candidate to participate in both Solo and Pas de Deux (Duet) at TANZOLYMP ASIA.

1 classical repertoire (Pre-Junior I, II / Junior I, II / Senior)

1 modern (contemporary) solo (maximum 4 minutes)

1 Ethnic dance (maximum 4 minutes) * Senior - maximum 5 minutes
Duet(Pas de Deux)

It is possible for a candidate to participate in both Solo, Group and Pas de Deux (Duet) at TANZOLYMP ASIA.

1 classical pas de deux (maximum 10 minutes), 1 modern(contemporary) or 1 Ethnic dance duet (maximum 5 minutes)

Pas de Deux / Duet candidates are given individual evaluation
Groups
-
1 group performance (maximum 8 minutes)

Each group is required to perform 1 group dance at TANZOLYMP ASIA

Special regulations

Not all winners will perform at the Final Gala, but only the best performances as selected by the jury.

George Balanchine's choreography cannot be performed at TANZOLYMP
Number of performances and duration
-
Once the participation program (application) has been submitted to the organizers, it cannot be modified.
-
During the solo competition, duos and groups will perform in an order announced right before the opening day of the festival.

The number, duration and combination of performances shall be as follows:
Solo
-
2 classical/neoclassical repertoires (maximum 4 minutes each)
-
All classical participants must perform 2 classical (neoclassical) repertoires, where one of them must be classical.
ex) classical + classical OR classical + neoclassical

1 piece in the modern/contemporary category (maximum 4 minutes)
-
Solo competitors in the Classical/Neoclassical category must participate in two performances. These two pieces must be assigned to the Classical/Neoclassical Dance category. Solo competitors may not compete with one piece in the Classical/Neoclassical category and one piece in the Modern/Contemporary category.

Special Rules for Solo Competitors: Solo competitors are not allowed to perform Pas de Deux! They are allowed to participate in Groups.
Duo(Pas de Deux)

It is IMPOSSIBLE to participate in both Solo and Pas de Deux (Duet) at TANZOLYMP (One must choose to participate in either Solo OR Duo(Pas de Deux))

One Pas de Deux piece from the classical repertoire (maximum performance time 11 minutes)
-
1 piece from the Modern/Contemporary category (5 minutes)

Duos and groups may only compete in one of the following categories: Modern/Contemporary or Pop/Jazz Dance or Traditional/Character Folk Dance.

Duos are not permitted to participate in Groups as soloists.

MUSIC
-
Candidates must prepare the music file they need for the contest.
-
Candidates must submit the music prepared for the contest in a digital file format (.wav or .mp3).
-
In addition, every candidate is required to have a copy of the music files used in his/her performances.

Piano recordings for classical repertoire variations are NOT allowed
-
Participants must prepare their own music and players if they use the rehearsal room provided by the organizer.

Pianists for music are not permitted.
-
The name of the music file should be submitted as "Category_Title of the Dance_Name".
STAGE COSTUME & MAKE-UP
-
Candidates must prepare their own costumes and makeup required for the contest.
*Stage makeup is forbidden for all candidates due to COVID-19 this year (an individual, simple makeup is allowed)
PROPS
-
Candidates can use the props needed for the performances in the competition.
-
All props must be portable and carried by the candidate himself/herself, and should not damage the stage or disturb other candidates.
-
Various powders (including pollen), liquids, and ignitable substances are prohibited.
INSURANCE
-
All participants are required to have their own insurance.
-
The organizers will not assume any liability for accidents, thefts, etc. occurring during the competition on or off the premises of the event.
RIGHTS
-
The organizers shall have all rights and ownership of the following matters:
-
1) Rights for the photo-taking and recording of the candidates during the competition.
-
2) Rights for the coverage of broadcasting both public and private lines during the competition.
-
3) Rights for a press interview with the candidates during the competition.
-
4) It is required to have permission from the organizers for photo-taking and recording in advance.
